IETU Fellows visited Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) of Aberystwyth University

On 9th and 10th of January IETU Fellows (Marta Pogrzeba and Jacek Krzyżak) visited Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) of Aberystwyth University.

 

They had opportunity to see  IBERS Miscanthus experimental fields, as well as greenhouses and laboratory facilities. Field trip also included Welsh postindustrial areas contaminated with heavy metals and possibilities of remediation of such areas was discussed with the representatives of Natural Resources Wales. During the visit plenary lecture took place, with participation of over 40 scientists from IBERS. IETU approach to havy metal contaminated sites was presented, as well as result of PHYTO2ENERGY Project and ideas of MISCOMAR Project.
Progress of activities in MISCOMAR project was disscussed with IBERS team involved in the project.
